Fertility & Conception Reflexology - supporting you and reducing stress
• Are you thinking about starting a family?
• Been trying for a while, but with no luck?
• Not sure if you’re ovulating?
• Do you want to optimise your chances of getting pregnant?
• Have you been pregnant before but finding it hard this time around?
• Have you had miscarriages but don’t know why?
• Are you having assisted conception treatments, such as IVF, IUI or ICSI?
• Do you have PCOS or endometriosis?
• Are there sperm count or motility problems?
I can help you get the baby.
Reproductive reflexology is a structured, personally tailored complementary therapy working with you and tried and tested medical knowledge of the male and female reproductive systems, current treatment technologies and protocols (for example digital basal body temperature charting) aiming to overcome sub-fertility and enable couples to achieve a successful pregnancy and get a beautiful baby.
The therapy uses specific and prescriptive treatment protocols to assess and address fertility health for both men and women.
Reproductive reflexology or reproflexology aims to rebalance the reproductive hormonal system and thus regulate menstrual cycles and ensure that each stage is functioning at its best. The woman may not be absolutely sure when she's ovulating. Regulating the cycle and introducing digital basal body temperature charting will highlight the fertility window more accurately than standard "over-the-counter" tests. For this reason it is best to start your reflexology treatment 3 months before trying to conceive so as to give the best chance of a robust conception.
Any underlying conditions – for men and women - can be resolved or lessened sufficiently to enable conception to take place. A full medical history and copy test results are important in establishing a treatment plan.
Fertility reflexology can be one of the most effective forms of integrated medicine using results from medical testing to measure improvements.
When you're facing fertility issues it is a difficult, emotional time and it is my privilege to help and support couples for whom a successful pregnancy has become an uphill task. Fertility reflexology enhances natural fertility as a stand-alone treatment or with all forms of assisted conception, including IVF. Stress is a major factor in suppressing fertility. The reproductive system is so sensitive to stress and so negatively impacted by stress. Reducing stress is very important for optimal reproductive health and fertility reflexology can help you to sleep better and feel happier and more relaxed, better cope with your unique stress at this phase of life. Fertility reflexology often regulates the woman's menstrual cycle, resolves some fertility issues, and often fixes sub-fertility or unexplained infertility.
I am a member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists
I am a member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists (ARR)
Barbara Scott, founder of the ARR says:
"Reproductive Reflexology can be used as a stand-alone treatment to enhance your natural fertility or with all forms of assisted conception including Clomid, IUI, IVF and ICSI. It can also be used to support individuals and couples using surrogacy or donors in IVF cycles.
Members of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists are specially trained, using structured and prescriptive treatment protocols, to support couples through all phases of their assisted conception programme."
I undertake continuing professional development with the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists and I'm listed on their website as an accredited practitioner. Here's the link to the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists
How does it work ?
Reproductive Reflexology uses structured and prescriptive treatment protocols to identify those conditions that may have been overlooked, assess fertility status, treat the condition then maintain optimal reproductive health to enable either a natural or an assisted pregnancy. The slight variations felt in the feet, the medical history, the current symptoms can all provide clues that correlate with the medical assessment. Where medicine cannot help or where such intervention involves invasive treatment, my working on the feet and following the protocols can give measurable improvement sufficient for a natural pregnancy. Reproductive reflexology supports all forms of assisted conception to give the couple a better chance of these medical interventions succeeding and lessen the side effects of the drugs. A course of fertility reflexology will best prepare the woman physically and psychologically to undergo assisted conception treatments and give the treatment a better chance of success. Sometimes reproductive reflexology can result in a natural pregnancy without assisted fertility treatment at all when it was the medical opinion that this (IVF for example) was the only course of action remaining open.
For the man also it takes 3 months for any reflexology and lifestyle changes to have a positive effect on sperm quality as sperm takes this long to mature. Male fertility is in decline because of pollution, stress, poor nutrition and the abnormal presence of oestrogens in drinking water and possibly also in the meat we eat. Lifestyle and nutrition changes are important to boost sperm quality. Both the man and the woman need to think seriously about stopping alcohol intake. Sperm production, quality and functionality has been tested after fertility reflexology. It has been measured and observed that sperm quality has improved after 3 months of a fertility reflexologist's input.
The Association of Reproductive Reflexologists
Barbara Scott, Chair of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists says ‘Trying to conceive, in itself, can be stressful and we know that this can impact upon your ability to get pregnant. Your Reproductive Reflexologist will support you emotionally and also use techniques to help manage your stress levels.’
A study done by the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists found that out of 180 couples who had reproductive reflexology, 122 conceived while they were having fertility reflexology. One hundred of them conceived naturally with reflexology and 22 of the couples who conceived were having fertility reflexology while going through IVF. 100 had a natural conception. The live birth rate data on the specific conditions was:
No one can deny that these were significant results.
I’m a member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists and I’ve had specialist training as a fertility reflexologist to provide support for you as a couple from the time you begin trying to conceive. Fertility reflexology is a safe therapy to have during fertility treatment and pregnancy, too. For those singles or couples of either sex wishing to involve surrogacy services I can still help.
The professional fertility community
It is a feature of Barbara Scott's work that there be interaction between the ARR and the medical fertility professions. They have been impressed with the practical application of scientific and medical understanding that underpins reproductive reflexology. I undertake continual professional development with Barbara Scott and my ARR colleagues to keep up to date with the latest good practice.
I attend the Manchester Fertility Festival and network with my professional colleagues and many health professionals and fertility experts. I see the massive and major advances in support for couples with fertility issues; I can introduce you to a highly regarded fertility clinic after a three month course of reproductive reflexology, should you decide that this course is right for you.
For both the man and the woman
We often think of fertility as a woman's issue, however, men can benefit from support as well. In fact, men are just as likely to suffer with fertility issues as women. Overall, fertility problems have been found to be be one-third female, one-third male and one-third joint. Fertility reflexology can rebalance menstrual cycles and hormonal problems, directly improve sperm quality and help with unexplained infertility.
Women - what reproductive reflexology can help with.
A course of Reproflexology aims to balance hormones which may also help to reduce some of the symptoms of:
Women suffering from painful periods or irregular cycles can benefit from fertility reflexology without any desire to have a baby. Fertility reflexology can also help women with issues experienced during the menopause.
As a male therapist, I understand that fertility can be a very delicate issue for men, and I am particularly interested in helping men who are finding it difficult to start a family. Medical tests have shown that sperm quality can be improved after three months of fertility reflexology.
Ordinary sperm testing might show healthy sperm form and movement, but it won't reveal any DNA fragmentation, which can cause fertility problems. If it becomes advisable, I can help with a referral for testing for this hidden issue at a specialist clinic.
Is IVF or other assisted conception treatment inevitable?
Fertility reflexology for both partners can support natural conception and any fertility treatment you may be going through. Right from when you decide you’d like to start a family, fertility reflexology can support natural conception. You may be concerned about irregular menstrual cycles, endometriosis, reduced ovarian reserve, or low sperm count, form or motility.
Fertility reflexology can boost natural fertility for both partners, leading to successful pregnancy without the need for assisted conception treatment, by improving sperm quality and correcting menstrual cycle imbalances. I can also offer support and advice that will help to prepare your body for conception and a more resilient and therefore a more likely successful pregnancy.
If you decide that assisted conception treatment is right for you, I can help you with clinic choice and I have a highly successful Spanish fertility clinic that is highly recommended. They pay for your flight and hotel and use the latest advanced screening and technology. It is adiseable that you undertake a course of fertility reflexology 3 months before your course of medical treatment that will best prepare you for that treatment both physically and psychologically, and give that treatment a better chance of success. The fertility reflexology protocols ensure its safe and efficacious use alongside and during the assisted medical treatments, and usually reduces the side effects of the drug treatment. On completion of the treatment the Spanish clinic's liason midwife continues to support you and at this critical time very gentle relaxing reflexology will help.
Why do I say that it's advisable to start reflexology treatment 3 months before assisted conception treatment? It usually takes around 3 months to fully prepare but is worthwhile as long as you don’t have underlying issues that mean delaying treatment is not an option for you. If you are concerned that this may be an issue then do discuss first with your medical practitioners.
Looking at you both in detail, the journey you have had so far and the tests and treatments undergone and any fertility issues identified (even if it is "unexplained infertility") we tailor an individual treatment plan and I support you continually through this stressful journey. When assisted conception medical treatments begin, there is a strict timetable and considerable disruption - the regime takes over and this is a very stressful time. The protocols of reproductive reflexology and the advice and support I can give means that I am treating you at the right moment with the right protocol to improve your chances, giving you the tools also to help yourself so you are never facing this alone.
Fertility reflexology supports you and enhances the effect of the following assisted conception treatments:
Medicated cycles – Clomiphene, Metformin, Tamoxifen
Natural IUI, Stimulated IUI (intra uterine injection)
In vitro fertilization (IVF)
Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
I work closely with you to assess you for any of these conditions. Using the science and the evidence based protocols I can often identify the problem, recommend any tests (that confirm the suspicions) or medical interventions. I can improve the condition and monitor progress measured by further medical tests if needed. For example I can identify a short Luteal phase or Luteal phase defect (the time from ovulation to bleed is too short for implantation to succeed) . I can treat that condition and I can give you, the woman self treatment homework to do that will lengthen the phase, keep up the progesterone levels to save the implantation. Thus the need for donor eggs is obviated.
Why the need to chart basal body temperature?
The purpose of basal body temperature charting is to find out what is happening in the woman's menstrual cycle.
BBT or ovulation charting is used to find out exactly when ovulation is taking place, the fertility window and the best time for sex.
It identifies any anomalies in the cycle that impair fertility.
It helps me as a practitioner decide which treatment protocol is needed to address the problem and fix it.
It helps me measure the changes being made using reflexology.
It's an information gathering tool so I know what's going on - there might be progesterone deficiency or short luteal phase - the temperature chart will show if progesterone levels are too low or the luteal phase too short - so I know what I need to be doing to successfully treat the condition.
It might be said "I'm under enough stress already. Temperature charting is obsessive and only heightens stress." Understood. But unless we can find where the problem is, we stand no chance of providing a solution. There are automatic, unobtrusive, digital, wifi methods that so accurately show the whole picture that ovulation predictor kits are a thing of the past. I recommend Ovusense. See here for Ovusense
